Suspicious fires in Highlands

House and shed destroyed by flames, RCMP investigating

Called to an abandoned house in the 1900 block of Millstream Road, police and the Highlands Fire Department found a shed fully engulfed in flames just after 3 a.m. on Wednesday. The fire spread to the house, destroying both structures. No one was injured.

A second fire was discovered under a wooden bulletin board at the corner of Lost Lake and Millstream roads . The fire, according to RCMP, looked intentionally set and was still smouldering.

A suspect arriving and running from the scene prior to the fire was caught on video surveillance in the area. West Shore RCMP Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation.
