Preliminary inquiry for Langford murder set for October

A Langford man charged with first degree murder will seek bail this month.

Joseph Knelsen, 44,  is currently in custody at the Vancouver Island Correctional Centre and is charged in the death of Gordon Berg, 53.

Knelsen is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 11 for the start of the preliminary inquiry. The inquiry will be held at the Western Communities Courthouse Oct. 11 to 14 and then Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.

“It’s easier to fix it in to two parts than one large amount of time,” said defense lawyer Paul Pearson.

Berg’s body was found in his Mill Hill home on March 7.

Police have disclosed the Langford men knew each other and there was a weapon involved, but few details surrounding the altercation have been released.
