Political parties seek candidates for B.C. election

Green, Vancouver Island and B.C. Conservatives on the hunt for nominees

With a provincial election five months away, three political parties are still searching for candidates in the new riding of Langford-Juan de Fuca.

The B.C. Green Party, Vancouver Island Party and B.C. Conservatives have made a callout for potential candidates. The Green Party expects to nominate a candidate this month.

The B.C. Liberals announced entrepreneur Cathy Noel as their candidate in November, while NDP leader John Horgan, who is MLA for Juan de Fuca, will run for his party in the new riding.

Horgan won the riding in 2013 by 5,218 votes ahead of second-place finisher Kerrie Reay of the B.C. Liberal Party.

The 2017 provincial election is May 9.
