A police-involved crash Saturday night sent two Saanich officers and another driver to hospital.

According to a release from Saanich police, the crash occurred around 11:45 p.m. on Dec. 15 at Blanshard Street and Ravine Way, near Uptown.

The police cruiser was travelling southbound on Blanshard when another vehicle, travelling westbound, entered the intersection at Ravine, resulting in a collision.

"It looks like what happened was the light changed (green), our guys enter the intersection and they got beamed," said Sgt. Dean Jantzen.

Paramedics transported the driver of the second vehicle and both Saanich officers to Victoria General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. All three were quickly released.

Jantzen said the two officers suffered wrist and head injuries.

Members of the Victoria police crash team were brought in to investigate the crash. Jantzen said it doesn't appear as if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
