A loud bang at her front entrance startled a homeowner early Saturday morning.

Oak Bay Police Department is investigating after a resident in the 1600-block of Hampshire Road heard the noise Jan. 8 at 2 a.m., but didn’t see any damage. In the light of morning, she saw the door frame splintered, causing about $500 in damage. A dirt mark on the lower front door indicates someone tried to kick it in.
