One person perished after a car and Alpine truck collided at Millstream Road near Bear Mountain Parkway on April 20.

A 60-year-old Langford man perished after crashing into a dump truck on Millstream Road Wednesday morning.

West Shore RCMP were called to a two-vehicle crash involving an Alpine truck and a blue four-door Chevrolet Cavalier at 9:55 a.m. on April 20.

“When the first RCMP officer arrived on scene the driver of the blue car was already deceased,” said Cpl. Cory Bayda. “When the ambulance arrived there was nothing they could do.”

The deceased has not been identified and police are contacting the next of kin.

“The driver of the Alpine truck is not injured and is being followed up with by victims services,” Bayda said.

The Cavalier was driving north on Millstream Road toward Highlands when it veered into the oncoming lane, Bayda said. It struck side of the southbound Alpine truck, crumpling the front end of the car.

While it is too early to determine the cause of the crash, Bayda did say, “It appears the car hit the truck. But we can’t say how or why.”

The RCMP have witness reports of a blue car driving erratically shortly before the crash, and RCMP believe the Cavalier is the same car, but are seeking more witnesses.

RCMP are asking if anyone witnessed a blue car driving erratically around Millstream Road and Treanor Avenue to call 250-474-2264.
