Malahat Volunteer Fire Department Chief Rob Patterson passed away Monday.

Support for Malahat Fire Chief Rob Patterson's family and colleagues continues to pour in after his sudden death last week.

"I want to personally thank everyone for all the cards, flowers, messages, and posts. I want you all to know that I am slowly reading and viewing all of it. So if I don’t respond right away please give me time, be patient and just know that I am receiving everything and greatly appreciate it," wrote Patterson's wife Tanya in a statement. "Rob is the best husband ever and my best friend, we always did everything together."

A celebration of life will be held this Saturday, Jan. 14, at 1 p.m. at Frances Kelsey secondary, 953 Shawnigan Lake-Mill Bay Rd. Following the service, those that wish to share more stories are asked to stop by the Mill Bay Fire Department's Station 1, 2675 Lodgepole Rd.

"We would like to thank everyone for all their support and condolences, Rob was everything to us and we can also see what he has meant to so many others. Please come join our family in celebration of Rob," Tanya said.
