No major calls was good news for local emergency services during the long weekend.
Colwood Fire Chief John Cassidy said it was “very tame” for a long weekend, a sentiment that was echoed by the West Shore RCMP. View Royal Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Rob Marshall also had no major incidents to report, but the department was kept busy with 20 medical calls between Friday and Sunday.
Langford Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Chris Aubrey said other than a call to deal with an overheated vehicle on the Malahat, his department enjoyed a quiet weekend. And with the nicer weather finally here, he said it’s a good time to remind people to be extra vigilant with barbecues, campfires and smoking materials.
