Job training programs awarded to RRU, Camosun

The south Island’s unemployed will have a better chance of upgrading their job skills thanks to a $1.4-infusion of funds

The south Island’s unemployed will have a better chance of upgrading their job skills thanks to a $1.4-infusion of funds into tuition-free job skills training in Greater Victoria.

The province is funding seven new programs for people looking for work and who are not on employment insurance.

Called the Employment Skills Access Initiative, the aim is to help people find work by getting them industry-recognized credentials at Royal Roads University or Camosun College.

Royal Roads received $746,251 for 96 students to participate in customer management, business administration and accounting preparatory and project management associate skills certificates.

The remainder of funds were allotted to Camosun College for a range of programs, including a residential building maintenance and maritime industry training.

Contact Royal Roads University at 250-391-2600 ext. 4773, or Camosun College at 250-370-4790 or esa@camosun.ca, or for more details on all programs available.
