Highlands voters voted to run it back this election with every single incumbent returning to office.
Results came in early Sunday (Oct. 16) morning with all six incumbent councillors keeping their seats as well as Mayor Ken Williams who was acclaimed with nobody running against him.
He’ll be joined in council chambers by Karel Roessingh (531 votes), Gord Baird (519), Ann Baird (511), Leslie Anderson (503), Rose Stanton (476), Marcie McLean (456).
In 2018, the Highlands council was elected due to acclamation. According to Civic Info BC, the average B.C. municipal turnout was 35.6 per cent.
With 842 ballots cast in Highlands out of 1,823 registered voters, turnout was at 46 per cent or 42.5 per cent when calculating based on the 1,980 estimated eligible voters.
