The multi-million dollar Belmont Market project in Langford will be getting underway next week.
On Thursday, March 1, there will be a ground breaking for the Belmont Residences where the community will be introduced to the team envisioning and developing the space on the former Belmont Secondary school site.

To date, the City of Langford has issued a development permit for an 80-unit residential building to be situated adjacent to the school board offices. The City has also issued a development permit for a mixed-use building that will have 2,717 square metres of ground floor commercial space and 156 dwellings. A permit to construct the foundation has been issued, and a permit for the remainder of the building is ready to be issued.
Plans released last year for the mixed-use development include three main commercial areas, featuring a roughly 250,000-square-foot shopping centre that highlights an almost 53,000-square-foot Thrifty Foods grocery store.
The ground breaking takes place from 10 to 11 a.m. at 950 Division Ave., at the intersection of Jenkins and Division avenues.
