Grizzlies, parks and rec still in negotiations for hockey club’s use of The Q Centre

Demise of Victoria junior A team are premature, team says

Reports of the impending demise of the Victoria Grizzlies are premature, according to the team.

While the B.C. Hockey League team and The Q Centre owner West Shore Parks and Recreation Society have yet to reach an agreement for the club’s use of the arena moving forward, the Grizzlies hold out hope a new deal will be reached, said Sonya Saujani, vice-president of operations.

The Grizzlies’ lease ran out in March and the two sides have held talks on and off since.

Society board chair Rob Martin said both parties “continue to work towards a new arena contract” and are “working extremely hard” to conclude negotiations.
