West Shore RCMP offciers acting on a tip from the public seized a quantity of fentanyl, a Taser and body armour after arresting three people in View Royal on Sunday.

The local detachment responded to a complaint of a vehicle with possible stolen license plates on Talcott Road just before 7 p.m. After locating the red Saturn in question, officers confirmed the plates attached to it were stolen and arrested the three occupants.

A search of the vehicle and one of the individuals turned up substances believed to include marijuana, cocaine, crystal meth and fentanyl, plus a collapsible baton, a body armour vest and a Taser disguised as a flashlight.

Two of the three occupants were released at the scene without criminal charges. The other, a 30-year-old Esquimalt man, is facing numerous charges in relation to possession of drugs, stolen property, prohibited weapons and breach of probation.

“There is no doubt these drugs were going to be distributed within the Capital Regional District,” said West Shore RCMP spokesperson Const. Alex Berube. “It isn’t uncommon to have a suspicious vehicle-related call lead to a more significant investigation.”

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
