South Shawnigan Road has reopened after two brush fires cause the road to be closed on Thursday afternoon.
According to Emcom Services, the two smaller brush fires were approximately one kilometre apart along South Shawnigan Road. Malahat Fire Rescue was able to contain the blaze quickly.

According to the B.C. Wildfire Dashboard, both fires are estimated to be .01 hectares in size.

Shawnigan Lake Fire Department assisted in putting out the fire.
Neither direction of traffic on the Malahat was affected by the fire.
