Will play hockey for food.

That’s the tagline of Five Hole for Food, the non-profit organization behind a cross-country ball hockey tour that supports local food banks.

Players of all stripes from Newfoundland to Victoria hit the streets in drop-in games to raise cash and food donations.

Since its inception in 2010, Five Hole for Food has collected the equivalent of almost 70,000 pounds of food. The campaign began July 3 in St. John’s, N.L., and finishes July 21 in Vancouver, B.C. The road crew will drive 11,000 kilometres, visiting 13 cities in 19 days.

On July 20, Five Hole will be at the Saanich Plaza, 3531 Ravine Way, between 3 and 7 p.m. Bring a hockey stick and a donation for the food bank to play. More info at Fiveholeforfood.com.
