Downtown Victoria pay parking stations being updated

New coins might not work properly in blue machines yet

If you've got a shiny new loonie or toonie in your pocket, it may not yet be accepted in the city's parking pay stations.

The new coins, introduced by the Royal Canadian Mint, are made from multi-ply steel rather than nickel. The city is responding by upgrading its 264 computerized pay stations to accept the new coins, a job that should be complete by the end of the month.
