UPDATED: Douglas Street reopens following serious single-vehicle crash

At approximately 11 p.m. on Feb. 28 a serious single-car crash occurred in the 3200 to 3300-block of Douglas Street.

According to police, a black Ford Explorer had just left the gas station at Douglas Street and Tolmie Avenue when the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled. The driver sustained minor injuries, while the passenger suffered significant but non-life threatening injuries, both were taken to hospital.

Due to the seriousness of the crash, collision analyst and forensic identification officers attended and the road was closed for several hours overnight.

The road was closed to vehicles and pedestrians from Saanich Road to Tolmie Avenue following the crash but was re-opened at approximately 5:30 a.m. March 1.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash and are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, who has not yet spoken to police, to contact Saanich Police at 250-475-4321.
