Colwood to pursue mutual aid fire agreement renewals

Fire coverage is a team effort around the West Shore

Acting Colwood Fire Chief John Cassidy has been asked by council to pursue one-year mutual aid agreements with Langford, Metchosin and Highlands, with an understanding that a working group will be formed by the member departments to review the fee for service provisions of the deals.

At the same time, a five-year term will be sought with the View Royal department, with which Colwood already has a working relationship.

“Given the amount of growth that we’re expecting within Colwood over the next year or two, we really need those agreements in place,” Cassidy told council at this week’s meeting.
