There was no shortage of Canada Day festivities in Victoria Sunday, but by sunset most had gathered in the Inner Harbour for the annual fireworks display.
Thousands of faces stared into the sky as bursts of red and white illuminated the water against the backdrop of the harbour.

While most people were celebrating 151 years of Canadian history, Victoria Police were responding to 157 calls in Victoria and Esquimalt
Victoria police reported 17 arrests specific to Canada Day events over a 12 hour period.
Last night, we received 157 calls for service throughout Vic and Esq from 6pm to 6am. Specific to the Canada Day events, made 17 arrests & sadly saw large #'s of intoxicated youth with many parents being called to pick up their kids. We had a high # of liquor pour outs #yyj

“Sadly saw large [numbers] of intoxicated youth with many parents being called to pick up their kids,” VicPD said in a tweet. “We had a high number of liquor pour outs.”
Police also received a high volume of calls from people asking about the fireworks schedule, and redirected them in a tweet to call the City of Victoria or Atomique Events for updates.
No injuries were reported.
