Belmont grad class seeks noise exemption

Prom committee aims to host events at Belmont to minimize expenses

The Belmont secondary prom committee is seeking leeway from Langford council on the City’s noise abatement bylaw. The school is hosting its prom and Safe Grad events at the school from 5 p.m. on June 3 until 5 a.m. on June 4.

In a letter discussed at Monday's council meeting, the committee noted that while past celebrations have been held at City Centre Park, using the school is more cost-effective. The dance is scheduled to last until 11 p.m. and the committee did not anticipate a lot of loud noise during Safe Grad activities, which run after that time inside the school.

Council agreed to the noise bylaw exemption.
