City of Langford crews were busy Wednesday morning repairing a sink hole that opened up on Van Isle Way at Jacklin Road the night before.
Michelle Mahovlich, Langford’s director of engineering, said the area used to be an old mill site. Crews found the remains of a timber box buried beneath the roadbed and believe it was used as a storm water basin, as there was an old clay pipe leading into it.
Over time the box rotted away, creating the sink hole.
