The world of travel is ripe with possibilities, and Janice Strand, along with her team at Expedia Cruises West Shore, invites passionate individuals to turn their love for exploration into a rewarding career as Vacation Consultants.

If you’re eager to dive into a dynamic role that combines your love for travel and entrepreneurial spirit, this opportunity might just be your perfect match!

"Our little office is a top-producing centre in North America for Expedia Cruises, ranking in the top 10 per cent of 240 locations – we’ve  achieved President's Circle diamond status every year since 2019," Strand says. "We're actively seeking to expand our local team of consultants to meet the growing demand for our services."

Joining the Expedia Cruises West Shore team means becoming part of a supportive environment where collective knowledge and experience are shared to create professional consultants for future generations. With more than 140 years of combined industry experience, the team is dedicated to mentoring and training new consultants to excel in the travel business.

Aya Ito, a seasoned Vacation Consultant, shares her journey: “I became a travel agent over 16 years ago - travelling gives me such joy and excitement, and having worked in customer service for many years, this seemed to be my perfect career path. I get to help people plan and make their dream trips come true!”

One of Ito’s best memories was helping a family plan their first trip to Italy.

"Knowing their preferences for authentic, off-the-beaten-path experiences, I customised a full itinerary for them,” Ito says. “I included unique tours and surprise private door-to-door transportation. When they arrived at their first hotel, I received an email with a photo of them enjoying a welcome snack on the balcony of their Tuscan villa, with only a subject line of 'YOU KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK'. I still see these guests regularly, and this trip comes up in conversation every time I see them. Knowing I played a part in creating those memories for them is truly rewarding."

For aspiring travel consultants, Ito suggests they have a passion for travel and genuine interest in helping people.

“Being curious about new destinations, experiences, and travel trends is important. But equally important is building strong relationships with your clients and understanding their needs and preferences,” Ito says. “Attention to detail, dedication, and the ability to learn and absorb new information is crucial. Travel grows you as a person; creating memories, experiencing different cultures, and gaining new perspectives. I'm passionate about travel because it enriches our lives in so many ways. So being able to help others plan their next vacation brings me much happiness."

Whether you’re a retiree looking for a fulfilling second career, a stay-at-home parent, or someone with a background in direct sales, this opportunity offers flexibility and a chance to break away from the conventional 9-to-5 routine.

“We’re excited to offer a unique opportunity for individuals to grow their own business while benefiting from the support and resources of our established brand,” Strand says. “We’re seeking people who have a genuine passion for travel and enjoy helping others create memorable experiences.”

With intensive training offered both in-office and online, consultants receive ongoing mentorship. This approach ensures every team member is well-equipped to navigate the complexities of travel planning, from simple bookings to elaborate, multi-city dream vacations, Strand notes.

The West Shore office strikes a perfect balance between remote and in-office work. Located in the heart of downtown Langford, consultants enjoy a convenient space to meet and engage with clients in person while still enjoying the flexibility of a hybrid working environment.

"Our West Shore office is more than just a workspace, it’s a hub where our team connects with clients and collaborates with colleagues who share decades of travel industry experience. This isn’t just about booking trips; it’s about becoming part of a vibrant community that transforms each day into a new adventure – it’s not just a career, but a gateway to a world of possibilities,” Strand says.
