The Greater Victoria Hiring and Post-Secondary Education Expo is back, offering job seekers and students a chance to connect with top employers and educational institutions. This free event will take place on Jan. 30, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bay Street Armoury

“This is an opportunity for individuals to explore different career paths and post-secondary options, all under one roof,” says Amanda Perley, Black Press Media events manager. “Whether you’re looking to start a new job, switch industries, or enhance your skills through education, you’ll find what you need here.”

A selection of exhibitors

Attendees will have the chance to meet representatives from prominent organizations such as BC Corrections, Sysco Vancouver Island and the Royal Canadian Navy. Educational institutions, including Discovery Community College and Royal Roads University, will also be present, offering insights into programs that can kickstart or enhance a career.

While many view career expos are primarily for job seekers, the Victoria event goes beyond matching employers with employees. It’s also a chance to gain inspiration and learn new skills. Photo courtesy of Greater Victoria Hiring and Post-Secondary Education Expo.

“The variety of exhibitors is one of the expo’s strongest features,” Perley says. “We’ve worked hard to ensure a broad representation of industries, from trades and technology to healthcare, finance and more.”

Exhibitors include employers from sectors such as construction, hospitality, security and social services, alongside post-secondary institutions offering programs in business, technical trades and beyond.

While many view career expos are primarily for job seekers, the Victoria event goes beyond matching employers with employees. It’s also a chance to gain inspiration and learn new skills.

“The event is designed to help people imagine their future and take tangible steps toward it,” Perley explains. “For some, that might mean meeting a recruiter; for others, it could mean finding a program that sets them on a new educational journey.”

Attendees will also benefit from the informal and welcoming atmosphere. “It’s about starting conversations,” Perley says. “Whether you’re a recent graduate, a working professional or someone considering a career change, this is the place to ask questions and make connections.”
