Family first
CPGA Head Pro, Griffin Gilmore is a life-time local golfer who grew up here in Victoria playing local courses and believes in hiring locally too. Griffin earned his pro status in 2007, and has a wide experience of playing and teaching at Vancouver Island clubs. He soon discovered that teaching juniors was where his passion lay, and that’s made him a great fit at Green Acres. “It’s a great place to have a game, to learn and perfect your technique, and to bring your family — all at a reasonable cost.”
Griffin credits the club’s success in providing an exceptional family-golf experience to the amazing local staff. He also notes that the course has made leaps and bounds in terms of the quality of the fairways and greens with the expertise of green keeper Steve MacKay. Stellar staff and great grounds mean a great golf experience all around!
Community spirit
Community extends beyond the out-of-bounds line, and Griffin’s community spirit shows through in his dedication to local charity events such as Santas Anonymous, and his personal participation in the BCPGA Golfathon in which BC golf professionals play from dawn to dusk. Griffin chose to walk the course rather than ride a cart to support this worthy cause! Always trying to help their community, Green Acres makes a point of donating to Royal Bay High School and other youth sports in the area.
Green Acres Golf Academy offers lessons for every level of player, from beginner to advanced, with an emphasis on getting kids into the game in a welcoming and reasonably priced environment. Over the summer, Junior Golf Camps are available as well as private lessons. Come out and work on your swing, or learn how to hold the club properly and get started with the game that will bring a lifetime’s enjoyment.
