As Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke candidates campaign in the lead-up to the 2025 federal election on April 28, View Royal asks its residents to think twice before raising election signs.

"As you prepare to support your favourite candidate, the town ... would like to remind residents of our election procedures bylaw, as it relates to election signs," View Royal said in a news release. "To reduce visual clutter and minimize plastic waste, election signs are not allowed on public property."

Restrictions include parks, roadsides and town buildings and structures. The plastic boards, which must be removed within 48 hours of the final voting day, also must not obstruct traffic sight-lines, overhang public land or be within two feet of a roadway.

"Signs are still allowed on private property, but please take a moment to verify your property lines before placing any signs."
