Police warn of more thefts from vehicles in North Saanich

RCMP encourage people to lock their car doors and remove valuables

People are being reminded to lock their vehicle doors, following another rash of thefts in North Saanich recently.

The Sidney North Saanich RCMP report they received calls from people living in North Saanich that their vehicles had been entered, rummaged through and items – including loose change – has been stolen. Another reported a shed has been entered and some of its contents taken as well.

In nearly all the cases, the police stated that the vehicles – and the shed – had been left unlocked.

The thefts happened in the area of Allbay Road and Kittiwake Place in North Saanich overnight of November 8.

“The Sidney North Saanich RCMP are once again recommending citizens to ensure their vehicles and outbuildings are locked, and all items of value are stored properly,” stated Corporal Chris Manseau of the local detachment.

The Sidney and North Saanich area has been the subject of similar crimes and there was an arrest earlier this year of suspects the police think were involved in some of them.

People who have been victims the similar crimes and with any information related to these events, can call the Sidney North Saanich RCMP at 250-656-3931 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
