Suspected impaired driver crashes into fence in Langford

The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days

On Aug. 18 at approximately 9:45 p.m., West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle crashing into a fence of a home near 2500 block of Selwyn Road in Langford.

West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle crashing into a fence of a home near the 2500 block of Selwyn Road in Langford, on Sunday, Aug. 18.

At the scene, at approximately 9:45 p.m., police and the Langford Fire Department found a 1993 BMW 320I with its front end crashed into a fence.

The driver, a 40-year-old male, was the only occupant. In a news release, the RCMP commented that "remarkably" no one was injured in this collision. 

Witnesses told police the driver had slurred speech and was possibly impaired. A breath test found that he was over the legal limit of alcohol allowed in the body.

Police issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
