The Colwood Fire Department is inviting the community to what promises to be, quite literally, the hottest event in town.
The open house on Sunday, Sept. 8, will be packed full of fun for all the family, including a hose and target station, an auto extraction display and tours of the fire trucks. Sparky the Fire Dog will also be making an appearance.
Visitors will have the opportunity to step back in time at the firefighters' museum, browsing artifacts and displays that date back to 1939, when the fire department was founded.
For those inspired by the activities, there will be information available about becoming a volunteer firefighter.
For anyone feeling peckish, for a donation, Seafirst Insurance Brokers will be serving up hot dogs and refreshments, with money raised going to the Colwood Volunteer Firefighters’ Association Community Initiatives.
The open house is being held at the Colwood Fire Hall, 3215 Metchosin Rd., 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
