A 40-year-old woman was seen driving erratically, including going over a double solid line and nearly striking oncoming traffic Thursday night (Aug. 24) in Metchosin.

Driving a black 2012 Mazda, the driver was found by the West Shore RCMP to be having a mental health crisis, said a police news release. She was then apprehended under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital to receive care.

“We wish to inform the public the police did stop this driver and the vehicle was towed,” said Cpl. Nancy Sagger, West Shore RCMP media relations officer.

Before police located the vehicle, the driver attempted to pass a vehicle and took wide sweeping turns on Sooke Road near Kangaroo Road.

Police only received one official report of the vehicle, but several comments were shared on social media regarding the driving behaviour.
