The City of Langford is inviting residents to provide feedback of the draft Urban Forest Management Plan which aims to establish directions and provide guidance for the management of the urban forest over the next 25 years.
On July 24 at 7 p.m., the city will hold a presentation about the plan and there is a survey available online that will be open until August 25.
The first phase of the plan took place last November, where the city heard community input to inform the vision and strategic direction of the draft. The second phase will seek community feedback on the draft that will shape the city’s plan before it is finalized and presented to council for adoption in the coming months.
“Council recognizes the significance of Langford’s urban forest and wishes to formalize its protection and management through the creation of the city’s first Urban Forest Management Plan,” said Langford mayor Scott Goodmanson in a news release. “Residents input is crucial in forming a shared vision and setting priorities to guide Langford’s urban forest management plan.”
According to the release, Langford’s urban forest consists of all trees, forested areas, plants, soils, and ecosystem components located within the city boundary.
The presentation will be held at city hall at 877 Goldstream Avenue.
