BC Transit is inviting the public to help Stuff the Bus next weekend to support families in need this holiday season.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the regional transit body will park a double decker outside of the Save-on-Foods at Tillicum Centre, where members of the public can help fill the massive bus with non-perishable food items, toys and clothing.

Salvation Army will receive the toys and clothing, while donated grub will go to the Mustard Seed Food Bank, which provides 600,000 pounds of food, beverages and hygiene products to families and individuals every year. That's equivalent to an estimated 480,000 meals annually or over 1,300 meals per day.

Past Stuff the Bus events have brought in staggering amounts of food. In 2018, for example, the event saw 3,928 pounds of food donations.
