Victoria beer-maker brews up the basics for Esquimalt's Rainbow Kitchen

Rainbow Kitchen serves about 10,000 hot meals each month

Hoyne Brewing revisits Rainbow Kitchen for its monthly charity of choice this month.

The Victoria beer company selects a worthy benefactor each month, donating 200 per cent of tasting flight sales – matching each purchase and donation.

With a mantra of filling the belly and feeding the soul, Rainbow Kitchen in Esquimalt is firmly in the crosshairs for October, and has been a charity of choice in the past for the Bridge Street brewery.

The non-profit on Admirals Road officially started in 2010 and is billed as the second-largest soup kitchen in Greater Victoria.

Specializing in programs that aim to strengthen food security on the south Island, Rainbow Kitchen features hot meals and food sharing. Each month, the organization serves about 10,000 meals and rescues roughly 10,000 pounds of food from growers, farmers and wholesalers to distribute market-style.
