If you would like to combine your inner da Vinci with a brew, here’s an artistic opportunity for you.

The West Shore Arts Council is hosting Art at the Pub on June 20 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Six Mile Pub in View Royal. This is the second year the council will host the event, which is designed to be a creative and social evening for adults. The evening begins with a meal and an 8 oz. beverage followed by an art-making instruction session.

Artist Terri Rodstrom will lead participants, whatever their level of skill, through an approximately two-hour session where they will create two watercolour paintings of West Coast scenes.

“I want people to get in touch with being creative,” said Rodstrom, a Highlands resident. “It’s good for your health. I can take beginners comfortably through the first process of painting in watercolours.”

This will mark the third time the West Shore Arts Council has hosted an event like this, said Kristi Hoffman, administrative assistant for the arts council. “The two events last year at the 6 Mile Pub featured two different artists and were very well received,” she noted. Another Art at the Pub is scheduled at the same time and location on Aug. 22 with Rodstrom as well.

Tickets are $35 per person and include all supplies, instruction, dinner and a beverage. Tickets must be purchased in advance at westshorearts.org. For a look at Rodstrom’s art, check out terrirodstrom.weebly.com.
