Watch a movie under the stars in Colwood

Join the resistance this Thursday at West Shore Parks and Recreation for a special Movies on the Hill outdoor screening of The Last Jedi.

The movie will get underway once the sky is dark enough, approximately 8:45 p.m., but don’t wait. Head over early to settle in with a pre-show starting at 6:45 p.m. Enjoy the sounds of a live band or participate in some family-friendly activities with the Neighbourhood Nights team or Kydo Klownz and his amazing balloon creations. Movie-goers can even compete for a chance to win VIP section, sponsored by Used.ca.

Admission is by donation with proceeds going to the Neighbourhood Nights program.

Annual water fight returns to Fort Rodd Hill

Get ready to get wet at Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard National Historic Sites this Saturday, Aug. 18. Parks Canada’s annual water gun battle returns to the fort from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Bring your own Super Soaker or borrow one on site and join in the activities. There are some drier options with events for the entire family.

Regular admission rates apply.

Polish your chrome for this Sunday’s annual car show

Langford’s annual car show takes over Goldstream Avenue again this Sunday.

Open to the public from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., the Langford Show and Shine will put hot rods on display in the heart of the city.

Some roads will be closed to traffic for the event, including Goldstream Avenue from Peatt Road to Veterans Memorial Parkway, as well as portions of Bryn Maur and Claude roads.

Public parking is available at City Hall, as well as on Claude and Danbrook roads.

Look in Friday’s edition of the Gazette for more information on the show.
