Karel Roessingh, Colleen Eccleston at this month’s Highlands Coffee House

The talented duo of Karel Roessingh and Colleen Eccleston is on tap Saturday at this month’s Highlands Music Coffee House event.

Roessingh is also a seasoned musician and composer who brings a wealth of experience to the stage. His musical journey includes studying jazz arranging and composition at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. He also holds a degree in secondary music and mathematics education from the University of Victoria.

Roessingh’s musical prowess has led him to perform across the globe. He has not only led bands for renowned figures like Howie Mandel, Rich Little, Bob Newhart, Shari Lewis, and Ted Knight but has also collaborated with artists such as Valdy, the Moody Blues, Jan Arden, and many others. Beyond his musical endeavours, he is a municipal councillor and even held two terms as mayor in the District of Highlands.

Eccleston is known for her exceptional emotional depth and insightful songwriting. Her original songs delve into the essence of humanity, reflecting the world around her with depth.

Her musical journey began as a child prodigy in Newfoundland at the age of 11, and since then, she has continued to captivate audiences worldwide. Eccleston’s music has been featured in plays, documentaries, and on radio stations across the United States, Canada, Germany, Holland, and the U.K.

Beyond her musical talents, Eccleston serves as an instructor for courses on the history of rock and roll and the Beatles. She also mentors aspiring songwriters at both the University of Victoria and the Victoria Conservatory of Music.

Doors open on Nov. 4 at 6:15 p.m. at the Caleb Pike House, 1589 Millstream Rd., with the music getting underway at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation.
