The West Shore Arts Council and Royal Roads University are hosting a screening of the film Whatever the Cost: Hatley Park and the Dunsmuirs.
The documentary was produced for RRU and delves into the history of the Dunsmuir family and the Hatley Park National Historic Site.
The event features performances by vocalist Elizabeth Gerow and pianist Jannie Burdeti.
Gerow has researched the life and music of Elinor Dunsmuir and will perform Elinor’s original songs accompanied by Burdeti.
The filmmakers, David Springbett and Heather MacAndrew, will host a question and answer session with the audience.
Attendees can also choose to participate in a costume contest by dressing up in period attire from the 1890 to 1920 era, and an optional tour of the Japanese Garden after the event.
The screening takes place at Hatley Castle on the Royal Roads campus Saturday, Aug. 18 from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
Doors open at 1:30 p.m., refreshments and light snacks will be served.
