Belmont Secondary School’s theatre department is adapting an old fairy tale in its production of Once Upon a Mattress, set to take the stage this week from Mar. 2 to 4.

The show is a revitalized take on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale The Princess and the Pea, which tells the story of a brave princess who must pass a test in order to marry the prince of the kingdom.

“From the auditions to showtime, I’ve been consistently impressed with the dedication and talent these students have shown to making this the best show it can be,” said director Belle Warner.

The production will take place at the school’s theatre on Thursday, March 2 at 7 p.m., Friday, March 3 at 7 p.m. and Saturday March 4 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults and are available in cash at the door or online at: sd62.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/15407/137/False/True.

All proceeds go towards the school’s drama department.
