Belfry uncorks fine wine for annual fundraiser

Crush – A Night of Fine Wine, to set taste buds tingling Oct. 20

Amateur aficionados and enamoured enthusiasts of fine wines should mark their calendar for one of the region’s premiere wine events and fundraisers: Crush – A Fine Wine Affair, which will be uncorked at the Delta Ocean Pointe Resort on Sunday, Oct. 20.

The event is one of the primary fundraisers for Fernwood’s Belfry Theatre, one of Victoria – and Canada’s – most respected professional theatre companies.

The highlight of the night is the Fine Wine Live Auction, which features a wide selection of delicious wines donated by local restaurants and the private collections of individuals. Auctioneer Roshan Vickery will lead this one hour main event, which is promised to be fun and lively.

For those in need of a good pairing with their newly purchased vino, a silent auction will feature gift baskets, dining and travel packages and other unique experiences, in multiple price brackets.

And what would a wine night be without some corks popped? There will be wine tastings on offer from some of B.C.’s best wineries and cideries, along with tasty bites designed by chef Craig Stoneman to delight the palate and pair with the wines.

Those bold enough will also get to test their wine IQ with a blind taste testing, care of Vessel Liquor Store.

And all will be accompanied by live jazz from the Tom Vickery Trio.
