Alan Doyle returns to Vancouver Island for four shows in May

Joined by a five-piece band, former Great Big Sea front man Alan Doyle returns for a four-show stint on Vancouver Island starting with a a May 7 concert in Victoria at the Royal Theatre.

Doyle and company last played Victoria this past July, when they performed on the outdoor stage at Butchart Gardens as part of the Summer at the Gardens series.

This time around they’ll be performing material from Doyle’s three solo albums, including 2017’s A Week at The Warehouse, as well as some songs from the Great Big Sea catalogue.

The group leads into the Island performances with a trio of shows in Washington State and one in Portland, Ore. That’s after spending about 10 days touring Germany and Denmark. The Alan Doyle Trio performs an exclusive gig on a Danube River cruise from Budapest to Vilshofen between March 24 and 31.

Advance tickets for the Victoria and up-Island concerts go on sale this Friday (Nov. 30) at 10 a.m. at rmts.bc.ca or in person at the Royal and McPherson theatre box offices.
