Weekend Earth Day celebrations at West Shore mall

Celebrate the 41st annual Earth Day at the West Shore Town Centre mall this Saturday, April 16.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the mall, tables will be set up with information about what West Shore municipalities are doing to go green. Learn about the Solar Colwood project that will help retrofit 1,000 homes and businesses with solar hot water heaters, or offer feedback on Langford’s multi-year plan to create bike and pedestrian trails to encourage alternate transportation routes throughout the city.

There will be live entertainment, face painting and banner painting for kids, and giveaways throughout the day.

Reusable totes and compostable garbage bags will be handed out while supplies last, and there will be a draw to win a $1,000 gift card to The Brick for energy efficient appliances.

For more information see www.westshoretowncentre.com and click on “events.” Earth Day lands on April 22 this year.
