An Esquimalt pool hosted its inaugural dog swim Dec. 2 before closing for annual maintenance.
Dogs of all sizes were welcome to participate and show off their doggy paddle skills as long as they were licensed, wearing a collar and over four months old with up-to-date vaccinations and were spayed or neutered. They were also required to be well-socialized dogs that owners were able to control.
Dogs were divided by size into two swims on Sunday – small and medium-sized dogs went from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. and medium to large dogs from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m.
The pool gets a thorough cleaning before it reopens Dec. 17.
