Tickets on sale for West Shore refugee fundraising gala

Local sponsorship group aiming to house family in apartment

Westshore Refugee Sponsorship Group members have been hard at work and are nearly 90 per cent of the way toward furnishing an apartment that has been secured for a refugee family.

In hopes of meeting their fundraising and item donation goals, the group is hosting a gala event on June 25 at Olympic View Golf Club. The entertainment for the evening is the musical trio, Ladies of Jazz and Gospel, featuring Maria Manna, Maureen Washington and April Gislason.

The night will also include live and silent auctions. Tickets are $100 and come with a $30 tax receipt. With 160 tickets to sell, the group hopes the community will continue to support them in this endeavour.

The evening starts with a no-host bar at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7. For more information or to buy tickets online, go to Or send an email to or call 778-557-7220.
