The Metchosin Foundation and the Metchosin Ars Cultural Centre Association (MACCA) are hosting their first nature photography contest.

Called “Metchosin Naturally! Seasons Through the Lens,” organizers hope the contest will show the biodiversity of Metchosin through photography.

Submissions must be taken in the District of Metchosin during 2018 and there are four categories including landscapes and seascapes, plants, birds and insects, and other animals. Animals in the photos must be non-domesticated species (not sheep, dogs, caged birds, garden plants) that grow and live in Metchosin.

There are two age groups within each category, with anyone under the age of 18 judged as a junior. A panel of judges will select the first, second and third place winners from each category and the two age groups.

First place winners in each of the four categories will receive boxed sets of Metchosin Foundation Nature Cards.

The exhibition will be at the Arts Centre and the Old School Gallery between Oct. 28 to Nov. 10.

The contest rules can be found on the contest page bit.ly/2ozDdgE.
