A new chancellor will head up Royal Roads University as it heads into its 20th year of operations.

Wayne Strandlund, 66, is the chair of the university’s board of governors, succeeding Dr. J. Peter Meekson.

“I am honoured to be chosen for this role,” said Strandlund. “I will do my best to help guide and support RRU’s strong educational contribution to the people of B.C.”

Appointed by the province, the prominent Victoria businessman sat on the board since 2011.

“Wayne has brought a passion for education and philanthropy,” said Allan Cahoon, RRU president and vice chancellor.
