A young Saanich woman will pursue her post-secondary education thanks to a sizable grant from Coast Capital Savings.
Alexa Tetreault from Saanich received the 2019 Standing Tall Award, a $3,500 grant that invests in resilient youth who have overcome significant personal struggles to graduate high school and continue their studies.

Alexa was chosen not only for her resilience, but also for inspiring her closest friends to her with her kind personality. This fall, she will begin her post-secondary education.
“This award provides me with financial support and I’m hopeful I can find a career that will allow me to help people that are also going through adversity,” says Tetreault.
“The circumstances in one’s life are not always ideal, but there is a lot of growth to look forward to.”

Tetreault is one of 61 young people across BC that will be receiving the grant this year.
“These outstanding … young people demonstrate a tenacity and commitment to their future that is truly inspiring,” says Maureen Young, Coast Capital’s Director of Community Leadership.
Over the past 15 years, Coast Capital Savings has funded over 860 students with post-secondary studies, an investment of over $2.4 million.
