Potable water system to be improved for rural residents

Certain West Shore homeowners to be affected by water commission move

Juan de Fuca Water Distribution Commission has voted to allow the building of stand-pipes for dedicated potable water service.

The decision affects certain West Shore householders, who are among about 400 families that depend on potable water delivery.

The change would allow dedicated potable water hydrants or stand-pipes to be built by member municipalities or the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area, to be administered by the commission, for the exclusive use of fire departments and certified water haulers.
