Metchosin services auction Saturday

Metchosin's fun fundraiser returns for another year

Community services go to the highest bidder.

The gavel will be out tomorrow night (April 2) for the 2016 Metchosin Community Association Services Auction, where skilled contractors and service providers unite to serve this non-profit organization, which has served the community since 1993.

“The Metchosin Community House and association were brought about by residents; it was not a council initiative,” said Coun. Kyara Kahakauwila. “The idea was to provide services and a meeting place for residents. For a small-town community it’s important.”

More than $6,000 was raised with last year’s services auction. The association is looking to continue funding programming such as Parents & Tots, where young families can connect; and Homework Buddies, for children who benefit from extra help or encouragement in school.

“We have always had a philosophy that business should give back to community,” said Kahakauwila, who  donated a certificate through her company, L.A. Limousine.

The donor list runs the gamut from Metchosin Soap Works and Atman Massage Clinic to Adam’s Tree Services, with other auctionable items from firewood splitting to yoga and more.

The online auction is already live and culminates with the live auction and wine and cheese tasting April 2 at the Metchosin Community House at 4430 Happy Valley Rd. from 6 to 9 p.m. For more information visit metchosin communityhouse.com.
