The Metchosin Farmers Institute and the Luxton Fair Committee are happy to see the return of the Luxton Fall Fair.
This much-loved neighborhood event will be held at the beautiful Luxton Fairgrounds in Langford at 1040 Marwood Ave.
Mark your calendars for a fun and educational weekend with three days filled with fun and activities – the perfect occasion to enjoy the end of summer with the whole family.
The fair starts on Sept. 22 from 3 to 10 p.m., including a busy midway. On Sept. 23, from noon to 10 p.m., you can enjoy a full day of events, and displays will be open until 7 p.m. Sept. 24 is the last day of the fair, and there are more fun things to do.
This event is a great chance to support local food security, businesses and community groups while learning about the area’s rich past and celebrating its agriculture.
Here’s a taste of what you can look forward to:
Interactive exhibits: Try your hand at making flour from grain, watch a blacksmith at work, and look at old farm machinery.
Tiny trains: Take a ride on one of the fair’s tiny trains, which add a touch of nostalgia.
Historical insights: Check out the interesting museum displays to learn more about the past of Metchosin and Luxton. At dealer booths, you can find unique items from different local sellers.
You can also enjoy the midway rides and games, chicken skill races, competitions and food exploration – when you can learn about food security in your area and explore the world of fermented foods and home canning.
For those who like art, you can check it out and see the amazing work of local artists on show as well as enjoy a piece of homemade pie with ice cream or a cob of fresh corn.
The highlight will be the fun carnival midway rides at the fair. For $45 per day (including GST), you can get a wristband that gives you entry to everything. People who want to get in early can buy pre-sale tickets for $35 plus fees, but they need to move quickly because they are only available until 11:59 p.m. the day before the opening.
