Residents from around Greater Victoria flooded the streets of downtown Langford for the annual show and shine on Sunday.

More than 1,500 people weaved throughout Goldstream Avenue and surrounding streets as it was closed from morning to mid-afternoon for people to check out cars of all ages, shapes and sizes.

While organizers said there were roughly 300 cars that had registered for the eighth annual event, including a classic Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 1903 Waverly, they had more cars than originally anticipated.

“I think it was the best show we’ve ever had. We didn’t have room for all of the cars, which is always a good sign,” long-time volunteer Greg Lyseng said. “I think everybody had a great time.”

While it was another successful year, plans are already in the works to expand the event next summer, including adding space to park more cars by potentially taking over Veterans Memorial Park, as well as doing a cruise for residents to see the cars in action the night before and ending at Westhills Stadium.

“I’m looking forward to doing next year again, I enjoy it, I really do,” said long-time volunteer Russ Bartram. “It gives me a chance to see a lot of people I haven’t seen in a while and I get to look at all the cool cars.”
