The Langford community is brimming with ideas about the future development and growth of the city.
Nowhere was that more evident than at the city’s recent ideas fair, where over 160 residents and community members showed up, ‘thinking caps’ firmly atop their heads.
At the March 15 event, nothing was off the table – parks, trails, recreation, transportation and active transportation in Langford were all up for discussion.
“The ideas fair provided an engaging format for community engagement and collaboration, fostering a sense of shared purpose and vision for the future of Langford,” said Mayor Scott Goodmanson in a news release. “Council is committed to increasing engagement opportunities to ensure that all community members feel seen and heard.”
The community’s feedback will be used to help shape the development of a number of master plans currently in the works: the Parks and Trails Master Plan, the Master Transportation Plan and Active Transportation Plan, as well as the West Shore Parks and Recreation’s Facilities Master Plan.
Attendees shared their feedback through a variety of engagement activities and had the opportunity to speak with both city staff and consultants to learn more about the master planning process.

The city is now encouraging Langford residents and community members to continue the discussion online, by providing their feedback for the master plans in development via their engagement platform, Let’s Chat Langford.
There is an April 13 deadline for feedback on the Parks and Trails Master Plan, which will guide future decisions on acquiring, developing, enhancing and managing city parks and trails for the next 10 years or more.
April 2 is the deadline for the Master Transportation Plan and Active Transportation Plan, which will be the first official guide for long-term planning and development of the city’s transportation network.
